Every few months, ITWBN gets a bit of an itch for a meet up so we throw a cockail mixer for all about blogger babes! We had done this before at the House Hotel which, both times has been super! This time, the Harbour Hotel invited us down for some cocktail madness instead so off we went!
The Harbour Hotel is based in Galway City, right in the City Centre. Its a gorgeous hotel with a fabulous reception perfect for our mixer. On arrival we instantly saw our little area, marked off with reserved signs and ITWBN logos everywhere (love!). We were greeted by Simon, our mixologist for the evening who had a wonderful cocktail bar all set up right at our area which was great! The Harbour offer an extensive cocktail menu and on the night had two specials on the go; the Hurricane and the Hunk Martini. Both of these delicious cocktails went down very well with our group not to mention the Prosecco and the odd pint of Guinness!
So at these events, finger food is always a good idea (soakage anyone?!) so at about eight thirty the wonderful Chef Gary Meehan had the waiters bring out his amazing platter of food for us. This was not your average finger food, thats for sure. We were presented with the following amazingness. Crab rolls – diced cucumber and chilli with coriander and lime aioli wrapped in cucumber. Sushi rolls – salmon gravlax lemon scented rice wrapped in nori. Tiger prawns – Galway bay tiger prawns marinated overnight in lemon, lime, parsley and chervil - divine!! And lastly the Harbour sliders – house made mini burgers with bacon and brie in a toasted bun, these delicious little burgers were an epic taster of whats to come for the Harbour, who are launching a new gourmet burger menu at the moment and hoping to enter a national burger competition too! All in all, the service and attention to detail were on point. Hats of to Chef Gary too who came out to chat with us and make sure all was in order and we were enjoying his masterpiece!
So with the ITWBN peeps well looked after it was back to the focus of our little cocktail mixer evening – BLOGGERS! We had a wonderful bunch of people join us for the evening. Sarah – Siren and Soul, Edel – A Dash Of Lime, Sinead – Skindividual, Dolores –The Holistic Mommy, Micheal – Educated Machine, Mags – Magstyle, Aisling – The SuperFit Foodie, Srini – A Personal Diary, Himasagar – Life at NUI Galway, The Galway Player Saibh Egan Wild Cosmia and Sinead – Yummy Mummy.
These cocktail nights are always such a great way to get to know the bloggers a little better. Even though we have #itwbnBloggerEvent every few months, its great to have the little meet ups in between. The conversation obviously drifts in and out of blogging, HTML, social media and the day to day loveliness of our lives and a lot of helpful blogging tips get passed around. After all, unlike your real friends, your blog friends want to hear all about your blog all the time so its a great informal place to chat and catch up with other bloggers and form friendships.
What we love about ITWBN is that it is open to bloggers of all topics and genres so we have quite a mix of people, all with one thing in common – blogging! As we see it, bloggers need some real life, face to face interaction aster all the time spent bend computers and ITWBN make that possible. The general consensus is that after each of our events, no matter how small, people leave feeling reenergised and rebooted and ready to continue their bogging journey safe in the knowledge that there are bloggers our there who support them and have their back.
Finally, we premiered our short film that was shot at the last #itwbnBloggerEvent on the big screen at the Harbour Hotel. Kenny from Wonderfulife Productions with his right hand man Colm. We are so thrilled with this film and think it captures the essence, fun and love of #itwbnBloggerEvent. Check it out here and be sure to share it!
